Temporary power distribution box meter

A temporary power distribution box with a meter provides safe, portable electricity with the ability to monitor energy usage, ideal for construction sites, events, and remote locations.

Overview

A temporary power distribution box is a portable electrical hub that distributes power from a main source to multiple outlets. When equipped with a meter, it allows users to monitor electricity consumption, track load, and ensure safe operation. These boxes are commonly used in construction sites, outdoor events, emergency services, and locations without permanent electrical infrastructure.

Key Features

Metering: Multifunction meters can record voltage, current, and energy usage, helping manage power consumption and prevent overloads. Amperage and Voltage: Common options include 30A, 50A, 100A, and 200A, typically at 120/240V single-phase or three-phase configurations. Outlets: Multiple outlets are provided, often with GFCI protection for safety.

Configurations vary depending on the box size and intended load. Safety Protections: Includes circuit breakers, residual current devices, and weatherproof enclosures (NEMA 3R or IP44/IP65 ratings) for outdoor use. Portability: Designed for easy setup and relocation, with pluggable connectors and modular components for quick assembly and dismantling.

Compliance: Users must confirm local utility approval for metering and power distribution equipment before installation.

Applications

Construction Sites: Temporary power for tools, lighting, and equipment. Events and Exhibitions: Power for lighting, sound systems, and displays. Remote Work Locations: Provides electricity where permanent wiring is unavailable.

Emergency Services: Quick deployment for disaster relief or temporary facilities.

Purchasing and Configuration

Temporary power distribution boxes are available from suppliers like Grainger, Home Depot, Amazon, and specialized electrical distributors. Many manufacturers offer configurable options to match amperage, outlet type, and connector systems. For outdoor or high-IP applications, boxes with RST or CEE connectors are recommended.

Example Products100 Amp Metered Temporary Power Outlet Box: Weatherproof, GFCI-protected, with 3 outlets, suitable for job sites and RVs. 200 Amp Standard Meter Center with Distribution: Ring-style, 1-phase, 120/240V, rainproof enclosure, includes main breaker and multiple branch breakers.
