Prepared for preliminary research by the ROGER FIBRE knowledge desk. Confirm optical interfaces, port or core capacity, electrical input and output, enclosure protection, thermal design and installation limits against current standards and product documentation.

Distribution boxes (DBs) and sockets follow standardized codes and symbols defined by IEC, BS, and European standards to ensure safety and interoperability. Distribution Box (DB) CodesDistribution boxes, also called DB boxes, are central hubs for electrical circuits. They are classified and coded according to their components and functions: MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker): Protects individual circuits from overloads and short circuits.

Codes often include B, C, D types indicating tripping characteristics.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Detects leakage currents to prevent electric shocks. Rated in mA (e.g., 30 mA, 100 mA). Fuse Box: Older type using fuses; codes indicate current rating (e.g., F10A, F16A).

Bus Bars: Metal strips connecting multiple circuits; coded by phase (L1, L2, L3) and neutral (N).

Isolators/

Disconnect Switches: Manual switches for maintenance; coded as ISO or DIS. Transfer Switch / ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch): Codes like ATS-1, ATS-2 indicate automatic switching between mains and backup power.

D

Socket Codes

Sockets are standardized by IEC, CENELEC, and DIN/VDE. Electrical Symbols

For schematic diagrams, DBs and sockets are represented using IEC and BS symbols: Socket symbols: Represented as circles with lines or letters indicating type (e.g., S for standard socket, F for fused socket),. Distribution box symbols: Rectangles with internal symbols for MCBs, RCCBs, fuses, and bus bars. Phase and neutral identification: L1, L2, L3 for phases; N for neutral; PE for protective earth.
