Prepared for preliminary research by the ROGER FIBRE knowledge desk. Confirm optical interfaces, port or core capacity, electrical input and output, enclosure protection, thermal design and installation limits against current standards and product documentation.

In a single-phase distribution box, the main switch (usually a double-pole MCB or isolator) connects the incoming phase and neutral supply, distributing power safely to the RCCB and downstream MCBs.

Components Overview

A typical single-phase distribution box includes: Main Switch (DP MCB or isolator): Controls the entire supply and protects against overcurrent.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Protects against leakage current and electric shock.

Single-

Pole MC

Bs: Protect individual output circuits. Neutral Link: Distributes neutral to all circuits. Earth Link: Connects all metallic parts and earth wires to the grounding system.

Wiring Sequence

Incoming Supply: Connect the phase (live) and neutral wires from the utility or meter to the input terminals of the main switch (DP MCB or isolator),.

Main Switch to RCC

B: Connect the output terminals of the main switch to the input of the RCCB. This ensures that all downstream circuits are protected against leakage currents.

RCCB to Load MC

Bs: For single-pole MCBs, connect only the phase wire from the RCCB output to each MCB input. The neutral wire from the RCCB output is connected to the neutral link. For double-pole MCBs (used for special loads), connect both phase and neutral from the RCCB output to the MCB input.

Load Connections: Connect the phase terminal of each load to the output of its respective MCB. Connect the neutral terminal of the load to the neutral link (or directly to the DP MCB output if used). Connect the earth wire of the load to the earth link.

Earth Connection: The earth link is connected to the grounding rod or earth pit, and all metallic parts of the DB box are bonded to this link for safety.

Safety and Best Practices

Ensure the MCB and RCCB ratings match the total load requirements. Properly label all circuits for easy identification. Use appropriate wire sizes according to load and electrical codes.

Always turn off the main supply before wiring or maintenance. Verify connections with a multimeter before switching on the main supply. This setup ensures that the single switch (main DP MCB or isolator) safely controls the entire distribution box, while the RCCB and individual MCBs provide protection for all connected circuits.
