Processing Solution for Sealed Fireproof Cable Trays

Sealed fireproof cable trays are manufactured using high-strength materials, intumescent coatings, and internal reinforcements to ensure fire resistance, structural stability, and long-term durability.

Material Selection and Surface Preparation

The production of fireproof cable trays begins with selecting high-strength metals such as galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloys, depending on environmental conditions and load requirements. The tray surface is thoroughly cleaned to remove oil, dust, rust, and other contaminants using sandblasting, acid washing, or grinding, revealing a clean metallic surface for optimal adhesion of fireproof coatings. Primers with strong adhesion and anti-corrosion properties are applied uniformly to enhance coating performance and prevent corrosion.

Fireproof Coating Application

Sealed fireproof cable trays often use epoxy-based intumescent coatings that expand under high temperatures to form a dense, insulating char layer, significantly reducing heat transfer to the cables. The coating is applied using spraying, rolling, or brushing, with careful control of thickness to meet national fireproof standards. Topcoats are selected for weather resistance, durability, and decorative qualities, ensuring a smooth, uniform finish free of drips or bubbles.

Structural Reinforcement

To maintain load-bearing capacity and long-span stability, internal metal reinforcement plates are integrated within the tray. These reinforcements prevent deformation or fracture under mechanical stress and high temperatures, ensuring the tray remains structurally sound during fire events. Ventilation grilles may also be incorporated to reduce heat accumulation and prevent accelerated cable aging.

Sealing and Installation

Sealed fireproof cable trays require tight sealing at wall, floor, and slab penetrations using fire-rated boards, firestop packs, firestop mastic, or mineral wool. Gaps between firestop materials and cables should be minimal, typically not exceeding 1 cm², and packing thickness should meet design specifications. Cover plates are installed to close openings, ensuring a reliable, crack-free seal that maintains fire resistance.

Installation must comply with technical standards, including level, plumb, and securely mounted trays, with horizontal deviation ≤2 mm/m and vertical deviation ≤3 mm/m.

Inspection and Quality Control

After processing, trays undergo inspection for coating quality, adhesion, and thickness. Tests such as cross-cut, pull-off, combustion, and endurance trials verify compliance with fire safety standards. Color consistency, absence of cracks or bubbles, and proper adhesion are checked, and all results are documented in an acceptance report for future reference.

Maintenance and Longevity

Regular inspection is essential to detect wear, corrosion, or coating degradation. Proper maintenance ensures the fireproof cable trays continue to provide reliable protection against fire, environmental factors, and mechanical stress over their operational lifespan. By combining high-strength materials, intumescent coatings, internal reinforcements, precise sealing, and rigorous inspection, sealed fireproof cable trays achieve enhanced operational safety, fire resistance, and long-term reliability in industrial, commercial, and high-risk environments.
