Dimensions of security distribution boxes

Security distribution boxes come in various sizes and capacities, with specifications including material, IP rating, mounting options, and electrical features tailored for indoor and outdoor use.

General Dimensions and Capacities

Security distribution boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate different capacities and applications. For indoor LSA-PLUS® series boxes, standard models include 510, 520, 530, and 540, supporting 340, 680, 1020, or 1340 pairs respectively. These boxes are typically made of lightweight mild steel, finished in grey (RAL 7032 or RAL 7035), and feature removable and lockable doors with 180-degree access.

Doors can be hinged on either side depending on installation requirements. Other general-purpose enclosures range from 65 x 65 mm up to 361 x 254 mm, with multiple cover heights and options for smooth or textured surfaces, suitable for harsh industrial environments. Distribution boxes can also be categorized by the number of ways, from 1-way to 36-ways, with corresponding length, width, and height dimensions specified for each model.

Material and Protection

Material: Mild steel, glass-reinforced plastic, or heavy-duty industrial-grade metals depending on application. Protection Rating: Commonly IP20 for indoor boxes, with higher IP ratings available for outdoor or industrial-grade boxes to resist dust, moisture, and chemical exposure. Locking Mechanism: Lockable doors with optional document storage and removable panels for easy installation.

Electrical and Busbar Specifications

For low-voltage distribution boxes (e.g., 63, 100, 160, 315 KVA): Busbars: EC grade aluminum, with cross-sections such as 72x50x8 mm for 63/100 KVA and 112x50x15 mm for 160/315 KVA boxes. Feeders and Droppers: Sized according to KVA rating, with PVC insulating sleeves and standard color coding for phases. Switchgear: Includes isolators, switch disconnectors, and porcelain cutouts conforming to relevant standards (e.g., IS: 13411) for safe operation.

Mounting and Installation

Mounting Options: Wall-mounted or free-standing, with stainless steel backmount frames for supporting modules or pairs. Cable Management: Jumper rings and internal guides for tidy wiring. Standard cable lengths range from 1 m to 10 m depending on configuration.

Earthing: Required according to standard electrical safety guidelines.

Additional Features

Overvoltage Protection: Some configurations allow integration of surge protection devices. Accessibility: Doors can be removed during installation and re-hinged for optimal access. Documentation: Provision for storing manuals or wiring diagrams inside the box.

Security distribution boxes are designed to provide robust, safe, and organized electrical distribution, with flexibility in size, capacity, and protection to suit both residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
